Ruth Evans Hofer (1915 - 1986)
Ruth Evans Hofer was the inspiration for Ruth Homes.  She was an exceptional woman, a dedicated nurse, and wonderful mother who, when widowed at the age of 32, turned to her nursing education and previous experience to support her family.

While working to support her children by herself, Ruth raised her children relying on God.  She taught her children to pray and chat with God each day, and to rely on Him always.  She also taught them to believe in themselves as she shared their triumphs and concerns each evening at the dinner table.

Ruth spent many years caring for others in the same spirit of honor and respect that she instilled in her family.  She was still taking care of people when she died at the age of 72.  She was an R.N. for seniors in the high-rise apartment building where she lived. Her dedication as well as her service and caring for others, was the inspiration for opening Ruth Homes.
Ruth's daughter, Jane Hausman founded Ruth Homes in 1994 where she remains as Executive Director.  Andrea Kranz, her daughter is House Manager.  Ruth Homes truly provides a family atmosphere.
